WOMEN'S PRIMAVERA CHASE THE SCUDETTO DREAM

For the fourth time in its five-year history, our women’s Primavera side will compete for the Scudetto. The Rossonere return to the finals after three appearances between 2022 and 2024 and a year’s absence in 2025, a season heavily affected by injuries within Matteo Zago’s squad. The most recent memory is also the sweetest: the 3-1 win over Sassuolo on 11 May 2024 that sealed the Italian title. From that point, several players from that group stepped up to the First Team.

"Training regularly with the senior players is a real bonus," said Coach Zago at the end of a season in which his side have consistently been among the top teams. "It brings new energy, patterns of play and dynamics that benefit the whole group, creating a virtuous cycle. The title-winning season was special because the squad was full of talent and produced several First Team players. Take Giorgia Arrigoni and Nadine Sorelli, for example – they both show how hunger, attitude and the right mindset can take you a long way. For our players, seeing these teammates – who aren't much older than them – is a real source of motivation, especially given how closely the two squads work together"

After 22 matchdays at the upper end of the table, Juventus now stand between AC Milan and a return to competing for the title they won two years ago. The final, moreover, would fall on the same date as in 2024: 11 May. "It's been a season full of challenges, but also one of consistency," said the coach. "At every stage, there's been a tough match or a difficult moment to overcome. We've shown good consistency in our results, especially against the sides that didn't qualify, even if things haven't always been straightforward." Zago continued: "It's a league where the overall level has risen significantly in recent years, and that's important. Compared to last season, we've welcomed back all the injured players and now have a very deep squad. It's certainly demanding to manage, but each player has made a contribution within a close-knit group where everyone feels involved."

There is confidence and optimism on the eve of an important fixture that will be broadcast Saturday on the Serie A Women's YouTube channel. "In our last match against Parma, the first 15 minutes were the best of our entire season, and we found ourselves 3-0 up. I was really impressed," Zago added, referring to the 4-1 victory. The upcoming match in Sassuolo is the second knockout tournament of the season, following the Viareggio Women's Cup experience. "Things didn't go well there. We don't have many regrets, but it didn't go as we expected. It was an experience that gave us a valuable lesson - we analysed it well and carried that forward into the rest of the season. The defeat gave us unity, experience and a desire for redemption." The focus is now on the future, both the Final Four and beyond: "The level of women's football is rising at great speed, and players are starting younger and younger. The hope is to continue expanding the base. The more that happens, the more interest you generate."
